During the first consultation we will discuss the reason you came; the specific symptoms and what makes them better or worse. As homeopathy is holistic I will take a full medical history and family medical history. Other factors will be considered such as your general personality traits (whether you are sensitive for example, what makes you angry/sad etc) as well as food preferences, and how you sleep. This information will allow me to find an individual tailored remedy what suits you best. The next consultation, typically 4-6 weeks later are shorter. I will be interested in understanding any changes in your main symptoms. Some people find it useful to use a journal to record any changes. The homeopathic consultation to some is an unusual experience as it is an opportunity to concentrate on yourself for a time. This in itself is therapeutic and is part of the healing process.
Homeopathy is a non-toxic; non addictive and has no side effects. Due to this homeopathy is safe for pregnant mothers, babies and children, as well as the elderly and those with compromised immunity. Children tend to respond well to homeopathy more readily as they have a clearer medical history (making the remedy very clear). Homeopathy does not replace medical advice from your General Practitioner.
The remedies will either be given in a pill form or in a liquid form. The remedy is individualised to you, as is the dosage and frequency. For children the remedy can be crushed between two spoons and administered by mouth or dissolved in a little water.
Homeopathy can work effectively alongside conventional medicines. At the first consultation I will take information about any medicines you are taking. Reducing conventional medicine should be done under the guidance of your GP.
The number of consultations is dependent on the severity and duration of your condition. In addition to this the remedies have different length of actions. If you have an acute illness, such as a cough or cold, you should be feeling better after one or two remedies. If you come for a set of symptoms which are more chronic, expect to come for three consultations before a review of the changes. Some people decide to continue periodical treatment even after their symptoms have disappeared to maintain optimal health.
The letters show that I am registered with The Society of Homeopaths; the “gold standard” of homeopathic regulation. It means that I suitably qualified and I am also fully licensed and insured. I adhere to a strict code of ethics.
At The Hering Clinic, we are more than happy to discuss any questions you may have. Please do get in touch with me if you have a question, either by email or on the phone.
