What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy and NLP?

Hypnosis and “trance states” have been used by societies since the dawn of recorded time. Hypnosis uses these trance states to uncover the thoughts and memory patterns that create and maintain people’s problems. We all experience “trance” states throughout our daily lives. Think of those times when you have been really engrossed in a film or listening to your favourite music and you lose all track of time and the world around you. Or what about those times when you have driven somewhere and you’re not quite sure how you got there? Hypnotherapy uses these naturally occurring shifts in focus to speak to the unconscious mind and give it acceptable solutions to existing problems.

Traditional hypnotherapy can tend to be a one-size-fits-all approach but we are all unique and experience the world and our situations in unique ways. This is fundamental to Cognitive Hypnotherapy . As a Quest Institute trained therapist, Sarah is skilled at listening to you and will use the most appropriate technique from a range of disciplines put together in a way that suits how you think.

Cognitive hypnotherapy is a fantastic accessible resource. Sometimes ‘stuff’ can stop us from reaching our full potential. These problems can become part of our everyday lives and we adapt our lives around them. Cognitive Hypnotherapy offers a range of bespoke solutions which can help you get back on the right track; it is a quick, solution focused therapy which has proven successful with an endless list of issues.  Cognitive hypnotherapy can help facilitate the life you wish to lead.

Hypnotherapy uses natural trance states to uncover the thoughts and memory patterns that create and maintain people’s problems. Natural trance states often occur; have you ever driven somewhere and you are not sure how you got there?  Ever been really engrossed in something and not noticed somebody coming into the room?  This is a natural trance state. Hypnotherapy uses these naturally occurring shifts in focus to speak to the unconscious mind and give it acceptable solutions to existing problems.Often when hypnotised, your eyes are open and you can respond to the practitioner.

NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming and is essentially the study of excellence. The creators Bandler and Grindler discovered that people who are successful aren’t successful by accident, they are following a process. It also stands to reason that those people who are not successful also follow a process. Simply, that means that you can alter those processes and the way you think about things to significantly change your behaviours and your life.

Sarah is a member of National Hynotherapy Council, The Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council and Quest Institute trained.
